Western Area Power Administration has a requirement to install approximately 24 miles of Government furnished optical overhead ground wire on 230 kV transmission line towers in Northern California. The removal of approximately 24 miles of overhead ground wire and various substation fiber optic cable and splice work is also required. The installation must be accomplished by helicopter. The majority of the work must be accomplished between 10/17/00 and 11/8/00 during a scheduled power outage. Minimum qualifications include prior experience installing fiber optic cable on high power (in excess of 115kV) transmission towers and performing previous installations in similar circumstances using a helicopter. Past performance will be a significant criteria in the evaluation for award. The Standard Industrial Classification code for this project is 1623 with a size standard of $17M. This solicitation will be issued on an unrestricted basis. All responsible business concerns may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency. Estimated construction magnitude is between $250,000 and $500,000. This solicitation will be issued on or about April 21, 2000. All work shall be completed by December 10, 2000.
