COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 14,2000 PSA#2579National Institute of Mental Health, Contracts Management Branch, 6001
Exective Blvd., MSC 9603, Rm. 6S-6107, Bethesda, MD 20892-9603 A -- FOLLOW-UP OF THE MULTIMODAL TREATMENT STUDY OF CHILDREN WITH
ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (MTA) SOL NIMH-00-DS-0004 DUE
062600 POC Contracting Officer, Robert D. Barnie, (301)443-2696 WEB:
Request for Proposal, http://www.nimh.nih.gov. E-MAIL: Robert D.
Barnie, rb245s@nih.gov. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
intends to make sole source awards to continue an ongoing Multimodal
Treatment Study of Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (MTA). The NIMH plans to award a 5 year cost-reimbursement
contract with a two year option to each of the following clinical sites
making up the MTA Group: NYU Child Study Center, NY, NY; Duke
University Medical Center, Durham, NC; New York State Psychiatric
Institute, NY, NY; University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA;
University of Pittsburgh, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic,
Pittsburgh, PA; University of California at Irvine, Irvine, CA; and
McGill University, Montreal Children's Hospital, Montreal, Quebec,
Canada. Because this is a multi-site study, offerors are to develop and
submit only one technical proposal that describes the work to be
conducted at all sites with separate sections on personnel and
resources that are specific to each site. In addition, each site shall
submit a separate business proposal specific to its site. The initial
study was funded through Cooperative Agreements that were
competitively awarded to the clinical sites indicated above. A major
gap in our knowledge of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
is the lack of adequate data on the long-term effects that ADHD
treatments have on children. The initial MTA study sample offers a
unique opportunity to follow-up, over time, on children with ADHD who
received different treatment modalities. The proposed follow-up study
will explore the long-term impact of treatment on variables such as
incidence of psychopathology, substance use and abuse, antisocial
behavior and academic achievement as well as the utilization of mental
health and medical services. The applicable statutory authority is
41U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Inherent duplication
of cost to the Government and unacceptable delays in completing the
study make competition unfeasible for this follow-up Phase. Request for
Proposal (RFP) No. NIMH-00-DS-0004 will be available on or about April
28, 2000 and receipt of proposals will be due on or about June 26,
2000. The RFP may only be accessed electronically through the NIMH
Homepage at http://www.nimh.nih.gov. First click on Funding
Opportunities, then click on Contracts and scroll down to the RFP
Number. This advertisement does not commit the Government to award a
contract. See Number Note 22. Posted 04/12/00 (W-SN444135). (0103) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0011 20000414\A-0011.SOL)
