Defense Information System Agency (DISA) is soliciting interested industry participants for the development of an interim interoperability specification/standard to provide forward error correction and interleaving coding that combats bit errors characteristic of wireless ATM terrestrial links. The specification/standard would encompass those wireless military systems that do not fall into the Personal Communications Systems (PCS)/mobile cellular category. The proposed standard would apply to military tactical radios that provide multichannel (wideband) communication services. Industry organizations participating in this effort will do so at their own expense. This announcement does not obligate DISA/JIEO/CFITS or any other government organization to reimburse any participants' expenses.
