The US Dept of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center, is planning to negotiate a sole source contract with Machinery Depot America (MDA) in Racine WI to furnish and deliver a Thwaites Model 8000H Powerswivel Dumper to the VA's Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee WI. This is considered to be a sole source because it is the only one with the powerswivel feature. The equipment will be used to excavate and backfill around existing grave sites. The powerswivel allows the operator to position the equipment in ways which eliminate the need to remove and later replace grave stones when doing excavating and backfilling. The only dealer for this equipment in the United States is MDA. Other firms who believe they can supply equipment that will meet the needs of the VA must furnish product information to this office by 4:30 PM, April 20, 2000.
