intends to award a contract for the laboratory analysis of filter
samples collected as part of the National Park Service's air monitoring
programs. Contractor will be required to perform analysis and reporting
of ion masses on nylon filters from the IMPROVE network; prepare
impregnated filters for SO2 sampling; and analysis and reporting of
sulfate mass on the exposed filters using ions chromatography; the
purchase of passive-ozone filters; filter sampler loading; shipment of
filters to field sites; analysis and reporting of nitrate and nitrite
ion masses from exposed filters, and record keeping. The award of an
Indefinite Quantities (fixed price) contract to conduct this work is
anticipated for June 2000. The contract award will be for one year,
with one-year options to extend up to a total of five years. The
approximate total value of this contract is between $300,000 and
$500,000 annually. The successful offeror must have experience in the
preparation and analysis of air samples for ambient air monitoring
networks and be familiar with any applicable quality assurance
requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Requests for
