This is not a notice of RFP issuance. The purpose of this RFI is to gather information from commercial enterprises capable of providing an enterprise-wide antivirus protection solution. This information is designed to give the U.S. House of Representatives knowledge of commercially available technologies and software that would provide reliable and effective enterprise wide virus protection to all computer systems of the House. This information would further assist the House in the development of requirements and terms of any subsequent, competitive solicitation. Respondents of interest to the House may be invited to demonstrate their solution. The House IT infrastructure consists of a single LAN system throughout the Capitol and Congressional buildings located in Washington DC. The computer systems of all Members of Congress, Leadership, Committees, and other House support organizations are connected to each other through this LAN system. A private Frame Relay network (WAN), predominantly 56K with some 256K connectivity, connects approximately 940 Member of Congress District Offices throughout the continental United States and its territories. Within this network are 800-1000 servers, predominantly Windows NT with a smaller mix of Novell NetWare, AIX, and Unix operating systems (some running SAMBA). As many as 500 Windows NT servers act as primary domain controllers. Approximately 200 Windows NT servers act as secondary domain controllers. Our client installations consist of over 11,000 workstations running various Microsoft Windows operating systems (95x, 98 and NT) and a small number of Macintosh systems. These workstations are all physically connected to the LAN/WAN and over 1,000 users connecting remotely to the LAN/WAN through a secured dial access. Windows (3.51, 9x, 4.0 and 2000), Novell Netware (3.12 & 4.0), b. Macintosh (8x, 9x & X), DOS, Linux, and Solaris operating systems. 3. No user intervention for operation or updates. 4. Transparent operation. 5. Assured enforcement that software is running, remains installed, and is current. 6. Automatic updates and installs from network servers or web servers within the House infrastructure. 7. Automatic central reporting. 8. Immediate notification of infection. 9. Automatic check and self-repair of antivirus files. 10. Full and real-time virus checking on systems. 11. Centralized updating and scanning logs. 12. Modularity of client to match threat, institutional policy, and user skill level. 13. Minimum network bandwidth utilization when applying product updates. 14. Reliable detection and performance history. Interested parties should respond to the following and provide any additional information that may be deemed informative. 1. How long has your company provided antivirussoftware solutions? 2. Total technical employees in antivirus software development/integration/maintenance? 3. Do you have current Federal Government contract for antivirus product and/or services? 4. If yes what is that contract number? 5. Where is the closest support facility to Washington DC? 9. Does your company offer help line support? 10. Provide at least 5 corporate customers contacts that have contracted to use your antivirus software for more than one year. Interested parties should identify their assessment and capability to meet the requirements in their response.
