Note 22. The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Cancer
Prevention (DCP), Biometry Research Group (BRG) intends to enter into
negotiations with the Mayo Clinic. The purpose of these negotiations is
to identify and locate participants of the Mayo Lung Project (MLP)
which was a randomized clinical trial of lung cancer screening that was
conducted from 1971 to 1983. The BRG is interested in identifying those
study participants who were diagnosed with lung cancer after July 1,
1983, the date of diagnosis and the medical facility where the
diagnosis was made. The results of this participant follow-up will
provide important information regarding the usefulness of lung cancer
screening. The Mayo Clinic is the only institution capable of
accomplishing this work since they are the only institution in
posession of Mayo Clinic records and the Mayo Lung Project Study
records. The anticipated award date for this acquisition is September
2000 for a period of two years. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1) as set
forth in FAR 6.302-1(a) 2. SEE NUMBERED Note 22. Posted 04/13/00
