99 -- HF16, 128X128 SI:AS HYBRID ARRAY SOL RFQBF5877 DUE 042800 POC Rena Cerbone, Contracting Officer, 617-495-7445, fax: 617-495-7485, email: rcerbone@cfa.harvard.edu The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) intends to award on a Sole Source basis, a purchase order to The Boeing Company, Electronic Systems & Missile Defense Division of Anaheim, CA for a HF-16, 128x128 Si:As Hybrid Array. SAO's MIRAC3 camera presently has as its detector a Rockwell HF-16 Hybrid Si:As 128x128 pixel mid-infrared array. This replacement array detector, which was initially procured from the Rockwell International Corporation's Detector Technology Silicon Devices Division (which was later sold to Boeing), is a plug-compatible, direct replacement and has identical pixel size, format, socket pin designation and can be used with our existing camera electronics system. A determination by SAO not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of SAO. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This acquisition is being conducted under the guidelines as set forth in the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). No written solicitation will be issued for this requirement.
