This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation No. N65236-00-R-5068 is issued as a request for proposal (RFP). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-12. This is a sole source procurement under SIC 3663. Because the items being purchased are proprietary and must be compatible with existing equipment, this action is being processed on a sole source basis to Cylink Corporation, San Juan, CA., as the only known manufacturer. Note 22 applies. These units are for the expansion of the existing Defense Information Systems Network at over seven sites in Puerto Rico. There are four contract line items: CLIN 0001, Triple DES Units (#HIS-41AT) quantity 28 each; CLIN 0002, 1:1 Switches (#X1AX) quantity 14 each; CLINN 0003, Cables (#12168-005) quantity 14 each; and CLINN 0004, Shipping. The procuring of the Triple DES Units, 1:1 Switches and Cables form Cylink's CIDEC His Encryption Unit. The delivery schedule is eight (8) weeks from receipt of the contract.
