Modification 002 is issued to respond to vendor questions. 1. What
amount of storage do you have in mind (in gigabytes) to be included?
Answer: Minimum of 144Gb total disk space divided among at least 4 hard
drives in a RAID 5 array, giving 108Gb usable storage. (Removable 36 GB
Ultra2 SCSI LVD Drives) 2. This device is to connect directly to your
Ethernet backbone, what type of interface should it include? 100 Base
TX, Fiber, etc.? Answer: 100 Base TX 3. Require "1 Internal Sony AIT-2
Drive 50/100 P/N TD-SDX-500C or EQUAL. Unit must support either local
or internal tape drives? Answer:The tape drive should be internal to
the storage device, and must backup the entire storage capacity of the
device. 4. You require Network Attached Storage but only show one OS
(NT). NAS is only required if you have more than one platform,
otherwise you can go with (SAN) without any overhead penalties. Answer:
We are an NT shop, and require a device compatible with the NT file
system. Nor do we want a SAN device. 5. How many workstations do you
have on the network and do you need shared storage? answer: Not
applicable to the specification or requirement. 6. How many users will
be connecting to this server during peak usage? Answer: Not applicable
to our requirement. 7. Do you see an immediate need for dual CPU's or
just the option for future upgrades? Answer: NO 8. If redundancy is an
issue, does this quote need a UPS? Answer: A UPS, it isn't needed. 9.
Monitor, keyboard, and mouse? Answer: Not applicable to a network
storage device 10. Does this quote require a custom built server
(COMTek Controller) or would you prefer a known brand such as COMPAQ,
DELL, or ALR? Answer: Any system will do as long as it meets all the
requirements. 11. Do you also require redundant dual 10/100 NIC's that
are load balanced? Answer: NO. 12. The RFQ for a cache upgrade to
128MB; is this for the RAID controller? Answer: Yes. 13. Do you have an
immediate need to upgrade to Win2K or are you sticking with NT 4.0?
