(SSA) requires the services of a Regional Medical Advisor (RMA) to
provide technical direction and guidance to the SSA Regional Office,
other medical consultants under contract, and the State Disability
Determination Services in the medical aspects of the disability
program. The Regional Medical Advisor will work closely with the
regional medical consultants currently under contract in identifying
and resolving medical documentation and evaluating case-related
problems. The RMA exercises a leadership role by identifying
inconsistent medical case handling or medical problems and assisting
the Project Officer in the evaluation of the performance of the federal
medical consultants. The work is performed at the SSA Regional Office
in Dallas, Texas during the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday
thru Friday. No contact with patients is required. Disability Claims
Program experience will weigh heavily in the evaluation process.
Current licensure in the state of Texas is required. Current training
and practice are essential. Approximately 15 hours or more per week is
required. The initial base period of performance shall be
approximately July through December, 2000 with 4 one-year option
periods. Request for Proposal #SSA6-00-02 is scheduled for release on
or about May 8, 2000 with proposals due approximately 20 days later.
Requests for the RFP should be received no later than 20 days after the
date of this publication. Requests received after that time will be
filled on a first-come, first-served basis. No telephone requests for
the RFP will be honored. This requirement is a 100% small business
set-aside. Proposals received from OTHER than a small business will be
deemed unacceptable and given no further consideration. All requests
MUST refer to the RFP number. In order to receive a solicitation your
