COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 19,2000 PSA#2582National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, PO Box 6495,
Cincinnati, OH 45206 U -- MANUAL ON NOISE CONTROL METHODS. DUE 050800 POC Dwight Favors
E-MAIL: ERROR --, dfy3@cdc.gov. Sources Sought: In the early 1970's
NIOSH published two noise control documents: 79-117, "Industrial Noise
Control Manual" and 80-116, "Compendium of Materials for Noise
Control" (2nd Edition). These documents are now out of print and are
not available. Simply reprinting the documents will not suffice since
new noise control methods would not be addressed nor would new
materials be documented or older materials be deleted. Computer-aided
design has made implementation of complex noise control strategies
possible. Some older noise control materials are no longer available
because the materials, such as asbestos and mineral fibers, pose a
respiratory health hazard. NIOSH wishes to have the content of these
two documents updated and merged into a single document that provides
a manual on noise control methods that is up to date along with a
compendium of noise control materials that reflects what materials are
available and how they are applied in 2000 & 2001. A successful
bidder will review the out-of-print NIOSH documents, devise a plan for
developing the new noise control and materials document, research the
state of the art of noise control, create a new database of noise
control materials, and submit to NIOSH for approval a completed
document. The document will be formatted for print, for interactive use
on the Internet, as well as for interactive use on compact disk. This
announcement is not a commitment to fund development of the document,
nor is it a request for proposals or quotations. If your company is
interested in providing the types of services NIOSH requires, you may
request that your company be listed as a potential source. When and if
funds become available for developing such a document, your company
will be contacted, asked to submit an outline of the proposed work, a
timetable for completion of the work, and provide a quote for providing
the work in the fomats discussed above. Posted 04/17/00 (W-SN445721).
