E-MAIL: Jeanne V. Moschetti, jmoschet@pop100.gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for linear translation stages (two units) from Aerotech, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA. These stages are required to control mirror movements in the wide field imaging interferometric testbed (WIIT). Two 8" stages are needed to control the optical delay line. Aerotech Inc. produces the only stages that are known to be compatible with the WIIT control system and capable of extremely smooth and precise movements. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 5/8/00. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
