0-OES-04. E-MAIL: Dr. Ming-Ying Wei, ming-ying.wei@hq.nasa.gov. The
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) intends to solicit
proposals for the New Investigator Program (NIP) in Earth Science. The
mission of NASA's Earth Science Enterprise is to develop understanding
of the total Earth system and the effects of natural and human-induced
changes on the global environment. The Office of Earth Science (OES)
supports basic and applied research, analysis, and science
communication that would promote and increase the use of remotely
sensed information for detecting and evaluating environmental status
and change at both regional and global scales. The objective of the NIP
is to encourage integrated environments for research and education for
scientists and engineers at the early stage of their professional
careers. The program is designed for investigators at academic
institutions and non-profit organizations; the Office of Earth Science
places particular emphasis on the investigators' ability to promote
and increase the use of Earth remote sensing through the proposed
research and education projects. Proposals submitted in response to
this announcement will be competing for about $1.5 million per year
beginning in Fiscal Year 2001. This solicitation will be available
electronically on the release date via the Internet at the Earth
Science Enterprise Home Page ftp://ftp.hq.nasa.gov/pub/ese . Paper
copies of the NRA will be available to those who do not have access to
the Internet by calling (202) 358-3552 and leaving a voice mail
message. Please provide full name and address, including ZIP code, and
a telephone number, including area code. Posted 04/18/00 (D-SN446085).
