Officer,(202) 418-0932 Request for Information(RFI). The Federal
Communications Commission (FCC) seeks sources and information related
to the design, implementation, oversight and final testing of an
electronic sound masking system for the purpose of increasing the
privacy level to an acceptable range. There are standards for
acoustical ratings. The standard is based on the decibel(dB) scale and
is comprised of the NIC (Partition Noise Rating), the NC (Background
Noise Rating) and the SPP (Privacy Rating). The SPP is the sum of the
NIC and the NC. Testing was conducted at the FCC facility and the SPP
ratings were rated from no privacy at all to fair privacy for some
areas. The purpose of this RFI is to investigate current and innovative
technologies in the area of electronic sound masking. In order to
initiate an exchange of information, the FCC requests that interested
parties (certified acoustical engineers) submit any or both of the
following in writing : (1) an up to 15 page concept paper; (2) product
brochures or marketing materials. Responses to this RFI should be
mailed to Federal Communications Commission, Contracts and Purchasing
Center, 445 12th Street SW, ATTN: Randi Bettencourt, Washington, DC
20554 within 14 calendar days after publication of this CBD
announcement. Faxes will not be accepted. This RFI is for planning
purposes only, and shall not be construed as a Request For Proposal
(RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any
follow-on acquisitions. The Government does not intend to award a
contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information
solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or
charges by the Government will arise as a result of the submission of
responses to this RFI. The Government reserves the right to reject in
whole or in part any industry input as a result of this RFI. Posted
