necessary to perform various exterior repairs and install fencing at
U.S. Coast Guard Fire Island Station, Babylon, Suffolk County, NY. The
work includes the replacement of aluminum storefronts at the main
entrance to the Station Building and at the north wall of the galley
area, installation of an exterior door and frame and the installation
of approximately 1,600 linear feet of 6 foot cedar fencing in the
Family Housing Unit area. This Request for Quotations is being issued
pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program
and is open to both large and small business participation. This
project is estimated between $25,000 and $100,000. The applicable SIC
Code is 1799. The tentative date for receipt of quotes is 1 June 2000.
Bid packages will be available on or about 8 May 2000 at a
non-refundable charge of $26. Certified Checks or money orders should
be made payable to Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the
firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to
the Coast Guard. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business
enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to
assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to
acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for
transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible
prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program
enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1
million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond
amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
