Morrison, Contracting Officer (407)380-4052 The Government intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with and award to the University of Southern California (USC) Information Sciences Institute (ISI), 4676 Admiralty Way, Suite 1001, Marina Del Ray, CA 90292-6695, a purchase order to deliver a report summarizing the results of a review of scientific literature relevant to the development of intelligent, embodied, animated, and emotional pedagogical agents. This report shall also include an investigation of current activities at research laboratories that are developing animated pedagogical agent technologies, as well as, the identification of future research issues such as (a) methods for improving the pedagogical effectiveness of agent-based learning systems and (b) research necessary to overcoming barriers to widespread implementation and adoption of agent-based learning environments. Delivery of this report within 135 days of contract award is required. ISI is the only known source that has the special expertise and knowledge in the areas ofintelligent, embodied, animated, and emotional pedagogical agents. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued on or about 4 May 2000. This procurement will result in a firm fixed-price purchase order utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
