Naval Facilities Engineering Command Contracts Office (NAVFACCO) is
issuing this sources sought synopsis for an Automated Tool Management
System to contribute to total asset visibility goals. The tool
inventory and tracking system should be a turnkey software system
provided with all the ancillary equipment required to support and
accomplish tool management. It should provide cost avoidance while
reducing overall inventory expenditures and losses, and substantially
reduce the time required to inventory tools. It should track the issue
and return of tools and consumables; track the individuals who checked
out a specific tool/consumable; provide current status on location of
tools. The system should provide a means to standardize the process,
while automatically updating inventory records for on-line validation
of inventory transaction data. The system needs to be durable enough to
operate in expeditionary environments. The system needs to be capable
of operating in several locations, with reconciliation capabilities.
The system should require minimal training, be easily navigable for the
user and be available on a PC or laptop computer. Please submit
brochures or information relating to the technical capabilities of your
proposed system no later than May 5, 2000. Based upon the response to
this sources sought, a solicitation will be released at a later date.
