A total of six fixed wheel gates installed in Nimbus Dam are to be refurbished. Each fixed wheel gate is approximately 13 feet by 13 feet by 2 feet deep and weighs approximately 15,000 pounds. The principal components of this work include: for gate numbers 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, replacement of seals, seal guard bars, seal clamp bars, fasteners, gate guides and shims, wheels, wheel bushings, and wheel eccentric pins and nuts. The lifting brackets and eccentric pin locating mechanism are to be modified and new wheel debris brushes are to be installed. The gates are to be repaired and recoated. Gate number 1 requires the replacement of the seal guard bars, seal clamp bars, fasteners, gate guides and shims, wheels, wheel bushings, and wheel eccentric pins and nuts. Areas where the coating must be removed for replacement work must be painted. The gates will be removed from their slots by the Government and loaded onto the contractor's vehicle for removal from the site for reburbishing. When the gates are refurbished, they will be returned to the site by the contractor, and reinstalled into their slots by the Government. The work is estimated to be in the $250,000 to $500,000 range. Award will be made in accordance with the "Small Business Competitive Demonstration Program".
