Lewis, Contracting officer, 202-324-9011 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in the FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in their notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation is issued under Request for Quotation (RFQ) number 0017148, using Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is unrestricted. The standard Industrial classification is 8071. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clause are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC)97-15. This will be a Firm-Fixed price Indefinite Quantity contract for a base year plus four one-year options. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with PE Biosystems/Perkin Elmer, North America Sales & Service, 850 Lincoln Centre Drive, Suite 410, Foster City, CA 94404, for Forensic DNA kits, Reagent and Supplies. The ForensicDAN Kits, Reagents and supplies were validated and/or compatible with the following PE Biosystems equipment: Genetic Analyzer model 377,DNA Sequencer model 310,Thermal Cycle models 9600 and 9700. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all quotes received within fifteen days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposed of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
