The work on this contract involves planting native plants in the Headquarters Historic District at Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, WA. The planting is part of an overall landscape restoration plan. The proposed planting surrounds the 1940's Administration Building and Superintendent's Residence. The work specifically includes some clearing and grubbing, adding soil amendments, planting new tree, shrubs and groundcovers, and adding mulch. Existing plants to be retained in the planting beds will be removed, heeled-in and replanted along with the new plants after the soil is amended. Plants shall be selected as early as possible to assure that the plants specified are available in sufficient quantity. Planting, however, shall be scheduled for the fall to take advantage of the natural precipitation cycle. The landscape contractor shall be certified landscape contractor and shall have membership in one of the following organization; Washington Native Plant Society, the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association or the Society for Ecological Restoration. Reference for comparable projects will be required.
