Gilchrist, Contracting Officer (412) 386-6428 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a requirement for routine chemical analyses and limited speciality/short term methods development in support of research activities of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The laboratory proposed must be accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Confirmation of this accreditation must be contained in the proposal in the form of a copy of the accreditation certificate or other appropriate documentation. The offeror is required to demonstrate either internally or through subcontracts the availability of instrumentation necessary to perform standard industrial hygiene chemical analyses with the following ten instrumental techniques: (1) gas chromatography, (2) high performance liquid chromatography, (3) atomic absorption spectroscopy (both flame and graphite furnace), (4) inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry, (5) ultraviolet, visible, and infrared spectrometry, (6) X-ray powder diffraction, (7) ion chromatography, (8) optical microscopy, (9) GC/mass spectrometry, and (10) evolved gas analysis by thermal-optical analysis. The offeror must submit the laboratory's current quality assurance manual which meets AIHA guidelines. RFP 200-2000-08013 will be available on or about May 16, 2000.
