10 -- LIGHT GAS GUN ASSEMBLY SOL W813LT-0067-7029 DUE 051900 POC Jean Craig, Contract Specialist, 410-278-6517, FAX 410-278-6522 The US Army Research Laboratory, Weapons and Materials Division, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005, plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the purchase of a Light Gas Gun Assembly, 20mm/0.28 Cal. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). ARL intends to purchase the Assembly from Physics Applications Inc., Dayton, Ohio on a sole source basis. It has been determined they are the only facility currently operating on a commercial basis in the United States. Physics Applications Inc also has the capabilities and technical expertise to understand the complexities of assembling a complete system, including gun, chamber, evacuation system, blast tank, and support equipment. This company also is capable of providing a very specific requirement pertaining to the launch capability of this assembly. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing viaFAX 410-278-6522, to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
