a combined synopsis for commercial items prepared in accordance with
subparts in 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included
in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation;
proposal is being requested and a written solicitaton will not be
issued. This solicitation is issued as a request for proposal RFP
673-74-00. The standard industrial code is 7699 and the small business
size is five million dollars. This solicitation document and
incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal
Acquisition Circular 97-16. The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital
intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Marconi Medical
Systems/Picker, Norcross, GA, for full service maintenance to include
all repairs, labor and travel of Marconi Medical Systems MRI EE#23410,
to cover the following: OR30 Magnet, Edge Couch, Magnet Power Supply,
PDU, ETO RF Amplifier, NTI Power Conditioner, Scan/Recon Cabinet 9U
Chassis and Exciter/Receiver Chassis, Q2 Sensor Boxes -- 1 Dual Channel
Box and 1 Single Channel Box, Vistar Computer with VCR Output Option,
Body Coil, Head Coil, CTL Coil, Quad Knee Coil, Pelvis Aray Coil, Large
Joint Coil, Flat Large Joint Specialty Coil, Flat Small Joint Specialty
Coil, HNV Phased Array Coil, and Patient Video Monitoring System. As a
result of major system upgrade, approximately 50% of MRI system is now
under warranty by manufacturer Picker/Marconi. This contract is
intended to provide full service maintenance on the remaining 50% not
covered under warranty. This highly complex system is used for direct
patient care for diagnostic purposes with no back up system available.
The system integrates both hardware and software. All componets of the
system are integrated and must work together properly to produce images
used for patient diagnosis. The contractor shall provide all repair,
labor and travel between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday excluding holidays. Contractor shall provide all
replacement parts as required to restore MRI to fully operational
status to include optimal image quality. Contractor shall also provide
four planned maintenance service calls during the contract period of
May 8, 2000 through April 7, 2001. Provision and clauses found at FAR
52.212-1, 52.212-3, 52.212-4, 52.212-5 and 852.210-77 apply. Proposals
shall be submitted to the address listed herein and directed to the
attention of Judith McDowell (90C). If no feasible responses are
received by 4:00 p.m. eastern daylight time May 5, 2000, procurement
will be made with the above named source. The solicitation number shall
