J -- MACHINING SERVICE OF PROTOTYPEN BARREL EXTENSIONS SOL W813LT-0083-7015 DUE 051900 POC Jean Craig, Contract Specialist, 410-278-6517, FAX 410-278-6522 The US Army Research Laboratory, Weapons and Materials Division, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005 plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the purchase of machining services to produce 2 each Laboratory Barrel Extensions to specifications and drawings referenced within the RFQ. These will be made available only to technically capable and responsible vendors as determined by the Technical Point of Contact upon completion of an evaluation of each vendor's technical capabilies and qualifications statement. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). ARL intends to purchase these services on a sole source basis from Honematic Machine Company, Boylston, MA. It has been determined that Honematic Machine Company has the necessary technical expertise for the precision engineering required to generate the tooling paths for the mating of barrel parts. Interested vendors have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing via FAX to 410-278-6522, to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
