Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northeast
Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Woods Hole, Massachusetts has a
requirement for the charter of two Illex squid fishing vessels. The two
vessels shall be involved in conducting a bottom trawl survey of Illex
illecebrosus (Illex squid) in U.S. waters (60-200 F) between Georges
Bank and Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. The charter period shall not
exceed eleven sea days. A sea day is defined as any part of a calendar
day spent steaming to or from a vessel's home port and Wood's Hole,
for the purpose of conducting the survey, and the days actually spent
conducting the survey. Conducting the survey is defined as steaming to
each station, towing at each station location and laying to due to bad
weather or equipment failure. The vessel shall arrive at the NEFSC dock
in Woods Hole, MA, no later than 7:00 A.M. on May 20, 2000, prepared
with the necessary fuel, food and crew to conductan eleven-day cruise.
Loading of the scientific staff and their equipment will begin at 7:00
A.M. on May 20, 2000 for a shake-down cruise. Immediately following the
loading of the scientific party and equipment, the cruise will depart
and will be completed no later than May 30, 2000. Each vessel shall
return scientists and equipment to the NEFSC dock upon completion of
the cruise. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will
be considered. No telephone requests will be accepted. Only written or
