The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to enter into a sole source contract with Dr. Samuel Werner, Columbia, MD under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1)- Only one responsible source. The contractor shall perform experiments, evaluate data, and publish results in the field of neutron interferometry and optics. Dr. Werner is uniquely qualified to perform this requirement because he is a leading international expert in the field of Neutron Interferometry and Optics. This is a highly specialized field at a high scientific level. Dr. Werner is the only scientist in the US with the broad experience and knowledge required to perform the required experiments. The period of performance for this requirement is one (1) base year with two (2) one year optional periods. The performance of this contract will be at NIST, Gaithersburg, MD. This contract is subject to the availability of funds. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
