NOISY CREEK CAMPGROUND -- The Colville National Forest is seeking proposals for reconstruction and construction activities for Noisy Creek and Cresent Lake Campground. This project is a HUB-zone set aside and proposals will be considered only from Small Business Administration (SBA) certified HUB-zone contractors. For more information contact the SBA at www.sba.gov/hubzone Base Items, Noisy Creek CG: 1) Road reconstruction to improve site drainage and access to and through the campgrounds. 2) Construction of new, and reconstruction of existing parking areas adjacent to the boat launch. 3) Installation of four Government furnished precast concrete toilet buildings of barrier-free design. 4) Construction of new camping area (20 sites, including one host site) with new picnic tables and fire rings at each site. 5) Removal of existing picnic tables and campfire rings associated with existing campsites that are to be obliterated. 6) Obliteration of a portion of the existing camping loop roads and spurs. 7) Reconstruction or construction of trails to facilities to be barrier-free. 8) Installation of a new water distribution system throughout the new campground area, including well drilling. 9) Paving with hot mix asphalt. 10) Road signs and road closure gates. 11) Installation of bulletin boards. 12) Installation of electrical service to the host site and fee collection site. 13) Installation of prefabricated steel road bridge. 14) Installation of a treated timber trail bridge. Option items, Crescent Lake CG: 1) Installation of one Government furnished precast concrete toilet building of barrier-free design. 2) Installation of new picnic tables and fire rings at three campsites. 3) Installation of one bulletin board. Project Location: The elevation of the project areas range from about 2,000 to 2,100 feet. Noisy Creek Campground: From Spokane, WA, travel east on US Highway 2, to the junction with SR211. At this junction, turn north on SR 211 and travel to Usk, WA. At Usk, travel north on SR 20 along the Pend Oreille River to Tiger. At Tiger, continue traveling north on SR 31 along the Pend Oreille River. Travel approximately four miles north to County Road 9345 (just south of Ione, WA). Turn east on this road and cross the Pend Oreille River via the orange steel bridge. At the east end of the bridge (crossing the Pend Oreille River), continue northeast on County Road 9345 towards Sullivan Lake. Noisy Creek Campground is located at the south end of Sullivan Lake. Crescent Lake Campground: Same as above, but once on SR 31, travel through Ione to Metaline Falls. Travel through Metaline Falls towards the USA/Canada border. The project is located adjacent to SR 31 about one mile south of the USA/Canada border. For additional site information contact Lou Janke at 509-684-7230. The estimated cost of construction for campground work is $100,000- $500,000. The contract time is July 5, 2000 through November 5, 2000. A formal site visit will be conducted on May 25, 2000 at 1 pm at the Noisy Creek Campground project site.
