Z -- BOILER CONVERSION, DEFENSE SUPPLY CENTER, COLUMBUS, OHIO SOL DACA27-00-B-0007 DUE 060800 POC Technical point of contact, Lynn Raque (502)582-5990, Contracting point of contact, Elaine McKim (502)582-6295 WEB: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District Advertised, http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/ebs. DSCC currently has a Central Plant and distribution system to various buildings that is comprised of two 70 MMbtu/hr. Riley Stoker coal fired high temperature hot water generators and one 40 MMbtu/hr. natural gas fired unit. This project converts one of the 70 MMbtu generators to a gas fired unit. This new unit will become the primary generator for the central plant. The work includes removal and demolition of selected components of the boiler and associated equipment as well as installation of new equipment and repair of some existing equipment, including new dampers and expansion joints, modifications to breaching, refractory, fan drive, and controls. DSCC has been and continues to convert buildings on the installation to individual building systems and the central plant will be phased out in the future, but elimination of the coal fired equipment as the primary generator is preferred now. The new gas fired burner is rated below the existing burner due to the decreased demand. Estimated cost is $500,000 -- $1,000,000. SIC code for this project is 1711.
