Notice is hereby provided of the Government requirement for the
construction of plaza improvements at the Alexander Pirnie Federal
Building, Utica, NY. The successful contractor shall furnish all
necessary labor, materials, and supervision. The estimated contruction
period is ten weeks from approximately June 5 through August 11, 2000.
The project is located on the 3000 sq. ft. grassy area in front of the
Pirnie Federal Building on Broad Street. A twelve foot diameter
fountain will be installed in a 1200 sq. ft. brick paver plaza area
surrounded by a seat wall. The remainder of the space will consist of
a 100-foot cobblestone path through an area that will be prepared to
receive grass. Architectural type exterior lights and bollards are
included as well as site furnishings. The fountain requires a minor
amount of plumbing piping and power. This procurement is 100% set aside
for certified HUBZone small business concerns pursuant to FAR subpart
19.13. The magnitude of this construction project is estimated between
$25,000 and $100,000. The standard industrial classification (SIC)
code is 1741 and the size standard is $7.0 million. Alternate payment
protection in the form of a payment bond or irrevocable letter of
credit will be required following award. The tentative solicitation
issuance date is May 10, 2000. All requests for the solicitation will
be provided only in response to written, facsimile, or electronic mail
requests. All responsible sources may submit a bid that will be
considered by the agency. Contractors are requested to provide a street
address as drawings and specifications cannot be delivered to a post
office box. No telephonic requests will be honored for this
