COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 27,2000 PSA#2588U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of Acquisition Management, Room
6422, 14th and Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20230 M -- BOOKSTORE OPERATION SOL 52-SAAA-0-00021 DUE 051100 POC Elizabeth
Hinz, (202)482-1010 E-MAIL: Contract Specialist, ehinz@doc.gov. The
U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) requests information from industry
regarding operation of the Trade and Business Information Bookstore at
the USA Trade Center (USATC) in the Ronald Reagan Building in
Washington, D.C. The bookstore is owned by the USATC, a DOC program for
providing export and trade information, counseling and guidance to
American businesses. The bookstore is currently operated by the
National Technical Information Service (NTIS), a bureau of the DOC that
distributes government publications. Although located in a building
that is open to the public and contains retail space and a food court,
the bookstore is located on the mezzanine level, out of the path of
most foot traffic. The bookstore sells materials related to exports and
international trade only, and has had very limited marketing. Sales
since its opening have been disappointing, and the government seeks
solutions to make the bookstore an efficient operation. A site visit
will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. for interested
vendors to tour the facility. Written responses to the RFI are limited
to ten pages, and are due by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2000. The
government seeks information only and will not award a contract at
this time. Interested vendors should contact the POC for a copy of the
RFI for further details. Posted 04/25/00 (W-SN448586). (0116) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0056 20000427\M-0004.SOL)
