(JE), a SPACEHAB Company, is a prime contractor (NAS9-18800) to the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Johnson Space
Center (JSC), Houston, TX. JE is seeking qualified sources that can
provide HELIOSCAN HD 530 PM Film (Manufactured by AGFA) for use in
Manned Space Flight. This film is specially intended for use as
original on electromechanical engraving machines for engraving
cylinders with the application of conversion gravure. Helioscan HD 530
is a negative working, U.V. sensitive contact film. It's a daylight
film which can be processed in dimmed U.V. free white light. The
emulsion is coated on a white opaline polyester base: 0.18 mm.
HELIOSCAN HD 530 pm is appropriate for negative contact work in room
light of all screen and line work such as copying screened colour
selections and black and white work and copying all line work. Special
propreties are: Steep gradation. Average gradient: approx 3, High
maximum density D max: approx 2.3. This is hardly affected by any
fluctuation. This is an advantage when programming electro-mechanical
engraving machines. Can be processed in light, line as well as halftone
developers. Dries very fast and lies flat before as well as after
processing : this is of importance for exposure in repeat machines. It
is dimensionally very stable. The film complies with the most
stringent regulations concerning affluents and environmentas
protection. The film is cadmium free. Handling the film Workroom
lighting: HELIOSCAN HDD 530 can be handled in U.V. free white light
without affecting its photographic properties, the film can be exposed
to lighting of 200 Lux in the workroom for 40 minutes if the back is
facing the light source and for 2 minutes if the emulsion side is
exposed to the light (Sylvania CWX). In U.V. free light of 100 Lux this
can even amount to respectively 5 hours and 15 minutes. Exposure: It is
recommended the material be exposed to a strong U. V. containing light
source. A metal halogen lamp as used in the contact printing apparatus
CDL 1020 R. CDL 1502 CDL 2002 R. Processing: HELIOSCAN HD 530 can be
developed in a METOL- hydroquinone-bath as well as in a lith and line
developer. The Rapid Access METOL-Hydroquinone is the most appropriate.
The film can be processed together with other films. Qualified sources
are requested to submit a Statement of Capabilities (SOC), including
a published price list, brochures and equipment specifications, within
13 calendar days of the publication date of this notice. The SOC
information must demonstrate the ability to meet the general
requirements described above. Include your business status (e.g., Small
disadvantaged or Woman-Owned Business, Small, or Large). JE reserves
the right to pre-qualify any prospective suppliers prior to the
issuance of any solicitation. All firms submitting a SOC will be
considered. JE does not intend to pay for information received as a
result of this synopsis. Posted 04/25/00 (W-SN448564). (0116) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0090 20000427\T-0001.SOL)
