Office for Tennessee has a requirement to construct a KC-135 Aircraft
Hydrant Fueling System for the Tennessee Air National Guard, McGhee
Tyson ANG Base, Knoxville, Tennessee. Work includes providing all
labor, materials, equipment, incidentals, and perform all work as
required to construct a new 3,750 SF POL pumphouse facility for a Type
III aircraft hydrant refueling system complete with pumps, controls,
and underground piping tie-ins to the existing fuel storage tanks and
the eight (8) each hydrant pits in the aircraft parking apron. The
hydrant pits are being furnished and installed by others as part of the
aircraft parking apron currently under construction. The new POL
pumphouse will be fully integrated into the existing POL facility. New
underground POL lines will be required to connect existing hydrant
piping loop under apron with the new pumphouse. Contractor will be
required to make the new Type III hydrant system complete and fully
operational. Modifications, repairs, and inspections of tanks and other
equipment to remain will be required at the POL tank farm. Construction
will include demolition of a small concrete block building and all
above ground piping and associated equipment, including deactivation
and abandonment of underground POL piping and seven (7) existing
in-slab fuel hydrant pits north of project site. Other demolition work
includes asphalt/concrete pavement removal, including underground and
above ground utility lines in some areas. New construction/site
improvement work also includes the relocation of a two-lane
bi-directional road for the southwest end of the base, mass grading and
earthwork operations, and storm drainage collection and detention.
Other site improvements consist of upgrading and relocating government
owned underground water, electric, natural gas, and communications
utility lines. Other new construction work includes new permanent chain
link security fencing and new apron pole lighting. Lawn seeding of all
new finished grade work is required. Contractor will be required to
provide gate security within and external to the project site for the
duration of the contract and in accordance with Metropolitan Knoxville
Airport Authority and Air National Guard security regulations.
Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000.
Solicitation documents to include plans and specifications will be
available o/a 17 May 00 with bid opening occurring o/a 21 Jun 00.
Documents may be obtained by remitting a certified check or money order

payable to the US Treasury. This solicitation will be issued
unrestricted therefore bids will be accepted from small as well as
