ext.225 CET Environmental Services, Inc. ("CET") is presently the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") prime contractor under the
Emergency and Rapid Response Services Contract (ERRS) throughout EPA
Regions 6, 8, and 9. A delivery order has been issued to CET to
excavate and/or remove mercury-contaminated soil/sediment from an
abandoned mine in the Dutch Flat mining district located in the Sierra
Nevada region of California. CET is requesting information on
equipment that can be utilized on-site to separate the mercury and
mercury/gold amalgam from the soil/sediment after it is removed from
the mine tunnel. The mercury and mercury/gold amalgam will become the
property of the U.S. EPA. The sediment ranges from fine sands and silt
to gravel, cobbles and boulders. Access to the mine is limited
therefore the equipment to separate the mercury from the sediment must
be mobile. The equipment shall be accompanied with operators and
personnel required to process the soil/sediment. Please provide a
detailed process description of the equipment being proposed to include
but not limited to: materials handling, particle size requirements,
mercury removal points, power and fuel requirements, plant dimensions,
etc. In addition, submit descriptions of other projects that the
equipment was utilized on. Also provide information on expected removal
efficiency of mercury from the soil/sediment after being processed
through the equipment. Please respond no later than May 8, 2000. Posted
