The United States Marshals Service (USMS) is considering restructuring its Asset Forfeiture Program. At the present time there are 94 Asset Forfeiture Units located throughout the United States. The Service Center concept, currently being considered, would consolidate operations into four centers located in Baltimore, MD; Miami, FL; Houston, TX and Los Angeles, CA. The USMS is conducting market research to ascertain if there are contractors that provide nationwide or regional vehicle services, i.e. towing, storage and disposal. Towing services are required on a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days year basis. Theses services should be accessible via a single "800" type telephone number (no cost). Storage would required both indoor and outdoor secure facilities and preservation maintenance. Disposal could included salvage sales, auctions and Internet sales.
