FOR ELECTROSTATIC PAINTING OF BOOKCASES, SHELVING AND METAL DECKING IN THE MAIN JUSTICE BUILDING LIBRARY 950 Pa. Ave., NW, Wash., DC 20530-0001 1. This project is to electrostatically paint approximately 7,000 linear feet of bookcases and associated shelving and approximately 1,800 square feet of metal decking. The work site is within the Main Library of the Department of Justice. 2. Prior to painting, all surfaces, should be thoroughly cleaned and prepared to remove all dirt and contaminants as well as any and all adhesive residue from removed labels, stickers, etc. 3. All bookcases and shelving units will be painted on all exposed surfaces. All exposed sides are to be painted. Any bookcases or shelving anchored to a wall surface will have only the front and sides finished. 4. Contractor is responsible for protecting all flooring, floor coverings, walls, doorways, etc. in areas immediately adjacent to the work area. All debris must be removed from the building at the end ofeach work day. There is no on-site dumpster facilities available. 5. A first light tack coat is to be applied followed by a full wet coat that dries within 30 minutes. The new finish shall be an electrostatically applied alkyd enamel base paint, using equipment that is both UL and FM approved. 6. The contractor shall match the existing green color as closely as possible. Prior to starting the project, a sample of the color must be presented for approval by the government. 7. The project may begin as soon as the color sample has been submitted and approved, but not later than five (5) working days after such approval. The project must be completed by July 15, 2000. 8. The contractor shall be responsible for all damage caused in the performance of the contract. 9. The contractor is responsible for providing all equipment necessary to perform this project. 10. The work in this area can be done between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday thru Friday. Authorization to work outside of these hours must be obtained from the contracting officer. 11. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2000 at 1:00 P.M. for interested vendors to tour the site. [This site is in a construction zone. Attendees will be required to bring and wear hard hats.] Please provide a list of attendees and your company name indicating your intent to attend this meeting via fax by noon, on May 12, 2000. The Main Justice Building is a secure facility. The successful contractor will be required to submit the names, dates of birth and social security numbers of their staff prior to gaining access to the facility. No on-site parking will be provided, although contractor(s) will have limited access to the building to off load supplies. 13. The work site is in an area under renovation, therefore workers are required to wear appropriate safety attire meeting applicable OSHA standards. 14. Work in this contract is covered under the Davis-Bacon Act. Prevailing wage rates must be paid. 15. Contractor's submittal package must include a detailed cost quotation, description of previous experience on a minimum of three similar projects and names, addresses and current telephone numbers of at least three references. As the Department of Justice has an urgent need to have this work accomplished in a timely manner, quotes are due by the close of business on May 22, 2000 with an anticipated award date of May 26, 2000.
