COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 26,2000 PSA#2609National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSAS, 6120
Executive Blvd, EPS/Room 638, Bethesda, MD 20892-7227 66 -- VISUALSONICS VS40 ULTRASOUND IMAGING SYSTEMS FOR MICE SOL
NCI-RFQ-00129-NV DUE 061200 POC Debbie Moore, Purchasing Agent (301)
402-4509, Todd Cole, Contracting Officer (301) 402-4509 The National
Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute (NCI), on behalf of the
National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), plans
to procure a VS40 ultrasound imaging system for use on mice from
VisualSonics, through Sunnybrook and Women s College Health Science
Center, 2075 Bayview Ave., Toronto, Ontario, Canada M4N3N5. NINDS
requires a commercially available ultrasound imaging system in order to
further develop the use of imaging modalities to non-invasively
phenotype and study genetically modified animals. The specific
objective of this project is to secure an ultrasound capable of
reaching a transducer resonance frequency able to study transgenic
mouse models. Towards these goals, the contractor needs to provide a
high resolution ultrasound capable of obtaining 40mHz or greater (not
to exceed 50 MHz) to image structural anatomy of embryonic mouse tissue
or in utero imaging of mouse embryos. The design and performance of
this ultrasound should be state of the art in that it has an ability
for imaging technic and data processing. The VS40 ultrasound imaging
system from VisualSonics is the only system known by the NINDS
researcher that can produce a minimum transducer frequency of 40mHz or
more. This is the minimum frequency needed to resolve anatomical
structures in the mouse embryo from gestation day 8 to day 9. In
addition, the system is unique in that it provides: 1)2D, M-mode,
pulsed doppler, and CW doppler scanning and 2) DICOM conformance of the
acquired images for acqusition and transmission in DICOM. VisualSonics
is the only organization known to the NINDS researcher that has
aforementioned features that are required and believed to be unique.
This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any
interested party believes it can meet the above requirement and the
noted features, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The
statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be
in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow
NCI/NINDS to determine if the party can perform this requirement. An
original and one copy of the capability statements must bereceived in
the contracting office by 2:00 PM EDT, on June 12, 2000. If you have
any questions, please contact Debbie Moore, Purchasing Agent on (301)
402-4509. A determination by the Government not to compete this
proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely
within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
competitive procurement. Posted 05/24/00 (W-SN458211). (0145) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0431 20000526\66-0016.SOL)
