The US Dept of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center, intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Steris Corporation for the purchase of a combination OR Table and Orthopedic Fracture Table for the Madison WI VA Hospital. This is considered to be a sole source for the following reasons. The purchase of the orthopedic fracture table from Steris is vital due to complexity and familiarity issues. The Steris table allows for a smooth transition from the hospital's current fracture table. Table attachments currently in use are compatible to the Steris table. Physician and Nursing staff are already very familiar with the Steris Fracture table from previous experience with a loaned Steris table from the affiliated medical school. There is a unique feature to this OR table in that it can be used both as a standard OR table and convert to an orthopedic fracture table. Only the Steris Model 3085 Major Surgical Table, with orthopedic extension and accessories, has these features.
