NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for "IDEAS-TEST" SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE, SUPPLIES AND SERVICES FOR EXISTING MTS SYSTEMS CORP., SOFTWARE PRODUCTS CURRENTLY INSTALLED ON COMPUTERS AT NASA LANGLEY RESEARCH CENTER. THESE SOFTWARE PRODUCTS ARE USED FOR ACOUSTIC AND STRUCTURAL VIBRATION TESTING AND ANALYSIS. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from MTS SYSTEMS CORP. MTS HAS THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS TO MAINTAIN THEIR PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE PRODUCTS, NO OTHER SOURCE OF SUPPLY WOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THIS SUPPORT. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on MAY 1, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement ona competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
