The Navy requires submarine storage batteries to meet FY 01-05 requirements. There are three different battery types to be procured and a Qualified Products List(QPL) exists for these battery types. All three battery types are listed on QPL 24541. GNB Industrial Battery Company, Kankakee, IL is currently the only qualified vendor. Quantities required for the Guppy I Mod E battery are as follows: FY 01-11 each; FY 02-8 each; FY 03-9 each; FY 04-11 each; and FY 05- 9 each. Quantities required for the Trident batteries are FY 01-3 each; FY 02-3 each; FY 03-2 each; FY 04-4 each; and FY 05-3 each. Quantities for the Seawolf batteries are FY 01- 1 each; FY 03-1 each; and FY 05- 1 each. The basic quantity contract will cover FY 01 requirements and there will be options for each of the four remaining FY requirements. The Government will make available assorted Government Furnished Property as required for the performance of this effort. A Confidential Security Clearance is required. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification is 3691 and the size standard is 500 employees.
