The COASTSYSTA intends to issue a sole-source contract to DSPcon, Inc., 380 Foothill Rd., Bridgewater, NJ 08807 for High-Rate Digital Data Recorder produced by DSPcon, Inc. This system was designed by DSPcon, Inc., specifically to meet the unique interface requirements of the AN/AQS-20 system. The Data Recorder being acquired is a support unit to the AN/AQS-20 system which interfaces with the AN/AQS-20 vehicle to record sonar image data during a mission. Raytheon, the developer of the AN/AQS-20 system has worked directly with DSPcon to develop the recorder. Raytheon has only given DSPcon the interface requirement and any other contractor would have to have the same information, thus no other contractor has a system that can meet the requirements of this acquisition.
