Officer Frank Caponiti 602-7703 x650 The Naval Sea Systems Command is
seeking information from interested manufacturing sources or production
teams regarding a potential future procurement of a Universal Modular
Mast (UMM). The UMM is equipment installed on a Virginia Class
submarine that raises and lowers sail mounted sensor systems. The UMM
is mounted within the submarine sail and acts as a structural support
for the sensors throughout the range of mast deployment. An Industry
Day is planned to assist potential manufacturers and productions teams
in understanding the nature and function of the UMM. The Industry Day
will be held at Naval Surface Warfare Center/SSES, Philadelphia on or
about the week of 29 May 2000. Attendance is limited to two
representatives per respondent. During Industry Day a briefing will be
conducted to familiarize industry with the program, the equipment and
potential future procurements. In order to attend Industry Day,
potential sources must submit a statement of qualifications delineating
production or manufacturing capabilities of equipment such as the UMM.
Additionally, attendees of Industry Day and qualified sources
responding to this announcement will receive complete system
performance requirement documentation, sail and sensor interface
documents and a technical data package. Other interested parties may
receive this information on a first-come-first-served basis as copies
of this material are limited. Recipients of this information will also
receive a Request For Information (RFI). The RFI will delineate the
type and format of information the Government requires. Responses to
this announcement must be received within 20 days from publication in
the CBD to permit coordination of facility clearances and passes. The
statement of qualifications and any other reply to this announcement
