The National Institute on Aging, Gerontology Research Center intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the College of Health and Human Development, The Pennsylvania State University, 315 East Health and Human Development, University Park, PA 16802-6509. The University will provide assistance in the recruitment of a subject population for research using the Mobile Research Vehicle (MRV). The activities will involve organizing community agencies, senior resident facility personnel, and identifying previous participants to volunteer for the cognitive, personality, nutrition and health assessments included in the proposed MRV in a population of African Americans. Data shall be collected on demographics, health, personality, and memory of the selected subjects. Memory shall include verbal, figural, and other learning and memory testing. This contract will provide the Government with summary data on cross-cultural aspects of aging and information about differential rates of attrition between on-going studies and proposed studies in minority groups.
