The Naval Air Systems Command, 47123 Buse Road, Patuxent River, MD 20670-1547 intends to issue a sole-source contract modification to Lockheed Martin Federal Systems (LMFS), 1801 State Route 17C, Owego, New York 13827, to procure two (2) High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS) units from Thorn Microwave Devices Ltd. (TMD), U.K. LMFS is responsible for integration and support of the Multi-Mode Radar (MMR) system, which is being developed by Telephonics Corporation for the SH-60R helicopter. The HVPS is a key component of the MMR receiver-transmitter. The purpose of this Foreign Comparative Test Project is to conduct a comparative test of the TMD HVPS with the current HVPS, which is manufactured by a domestic vendor. A similar TMD HVPS installed in the Telephonics AN/APS143 radar family demonstrates enhanced reliability, resulting in reduced logistic support costs for that system.
