Exchange Commission (SEC) intends to purchase commercial off-the-shelf
supplies and services for a fully functional dedicated dual-ring fiber
distributed data interchange (FDDI) network. The services are to be
supplied between two SEC computer facilities located in Alexandria,
Virginia and in Washington, DC. The two locations are geographically 10
miles apart and interconnected by a fiber network (FDDI). Data is
transferred at a rate of 100 megabits/second. Fiber Distributed Data
Interchange (FDDI), developed by Technical Committee X3T9, Task Group
5, of the Accredited Standards Committee (chartered by the American
Nation Standards Institute), is the protocol. The contract will be
fixed price with a base year and four option years. The solicitation
has two CLINS in each contract year: CLIN 1 FDDI service- 2 dual attach
concentrators, and Optional CLIN 2 FDDI service -- 2 additional dual
attach concentrators for redundancy. The incumbent contractor is Bell
Atlantic Federal Systems, 1710 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006.
