The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS), requires that a comprehensive education program (Kindergarten through Grade 8) be provided for approximately 623 eligible dependent children of Department of Defense personnel residing on Hanscom Air Force Base (AFB), Massachusetts and attending the Primary and Middle Schools at that location. This solicitation is open to all local education agencies (LEAs) licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to perform such services. The contractor shall provide all necessary labor, services, administration, transportation, supplies, equipment (not otherwise provided by the Government), and other items necessary to present a comprehensive educational program, comparable to that provided to students in public school districts in the state of Massachusetts. The contractor shall provide the required educational program in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as applicable United States laws and regulations. The contractor shall be licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Secretary of Education to operate Kindergarten through Grade 8 within the commonwealth. The contractor shall provide for gifted/talented, special education, remedial support, counseling services, and extra curricular activities consistent with federal and state laws and regulations. Base period of proposed contract is for one year beginning in School Year SY 2001/2002 and will include four (4) one-year option periods. The actual projected needs for these services will be provided in the solicitation/contract. We will be conducting an on-site visit of the 2 schools at Hanscom AFB on 23 May 2000.
