The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, has a requirement for the construction of a new thin-arch dam in Puerto Rico (Portugues Dam). The Portugues Dam is the final phase of the Portugues and Bucana (P&B) project that provides flood control, water supply and recreation for the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. The project is located approximately 3 miles northwest of the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, on the Portugues River. The dam will be a concrete double-curvature elliptical arch dam, curved in both the vertical and horizontal planes with integral outlet works and overflow spillway. The Jacksonville District intends to release a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) with specific submission requirements to identify highly qualified contractors who are interested in competing for the construction contract. Pre-RFQ and pre-submission conferences are not contemplated. The official RFQ will only be available at the Jacksonville District's web site http://www.saj.usace.army.mil/.
