mmille20@email.usps.gov. The United States Postal Service intends to
award a Fixed Price Contract for the Renovation & Expansion of the
existing San Francisco, CA Airport Mail Center located at the San
Francisco International Airport. The existing facility consists of
approximately 166,651 s. f. of floor space on approximately 8.61 acres
of leased land that is owned by the Airport Authority. The new
addition will contain approximately 96,986 s. f., when completed the
entire facility will contain approximately 263,640 s. f. Due to the
complexity of the work, it will be required to be preformed in phases
and will include but is not limited to the following (Refer to all of
the contract documents for specifics): selective demolition (building,
material handling equipment & site), asbestos & lead paint abatement,
new site work (pavement, grainage, fencing & landscaping), new
material handling equipment, remoldeling of existing facility and a new
addition. "NOTICE" this contract includes new material handling
equipment that will be provided and installed by a "Directed Source".
The USPS has established a Priced "Basic Ordering Agreement" (BOA) with
this directed source for this work. However, it is required that you
(the Contractor) will issue a subcontract to the directed source for
providing and installing all of the material handling equipment and
include all costs associated with this installation in your proposal.
While this directed source has been chosen by the Postal Service, the
Postal Service has no contractural relationship with the directed
source. The directed source's name and pricing will be provided prior
to or at the time of the preproposal conference. The preproposal
conference will be held at 9:00 am on June 6, 2000 at the USPS
Facilities Service Office, 395 Oyster Point Blvd., Suite 225,South San
Francisco, CA94080-1930, Telephone 650-615-7200. The completion time
for this project is 728 calendar days from the date indicated on the
Notice to Proceed. Contract award is contingent upon the Postal Service
Board of Governors approval of funding. The "SUCCESSFUL" Offeror,
"PRIOR" to award must submit their Sub-contracting Plan in accordance
with the Small and Minority-Owned Business Enterprise Subcontracting
Requirements (Clause 3-2). Goals for this contract are: Minority
Business Enterprise of 15%, Women Business Enterprise 3%, and Small
