transportation to Repair Brant Point Light, Nantucket, Massachusetts
(Nantucket County). The base bid work includes exterior work only:
Removing rust and lead-containing paint from all exterior metalwork at
the lantern, including wall panels, railings, vent ball, roof panels,
astragals, and priming and painting the stripped surfaces; repairing
the lantern door latch; removing existing glazing at the lantern and
providing 1/4" thick glass (10 new panes); coating the lantern deck
with a liquid roof coating; removing improperly installed wood
shingles, and providing new cedar shingles (approximately 65 SF of wall
surface area); providing 2 new wood shingles where existing shingles
are missing in other locations; removing approximately 200 rusty nails
protruding from existing shingles, providing new stainless steel nails
one size larger in the same location, and replacing shingles that crack
or break during nail replacement;painting new wood shingles white to
match existing shingles; repainting exterior wood surfaces, including
cornice, trim, door, door frame, windows, window frames, and sidewall
shingles; surface preparation at surfaces coated with lead-containing
paint is required. Optional bid item includes the following interior
work: removing rust and lead-containing paint from interior lantern
surfaces, and priming and painting wood and metal surfaces; removing
existing wood lath and plaster from existing interior wall surfaces,
and providing new portland cement-lime plaster on galvanized metal
lath; repainting existing interior wood surfaces in the tower, such as
doors, door frames, windows, window frames, stairs, railings, floors,
and ceilings. Surface preparation at surfaces coated with
lead-containing paint is required. Estimated cost of this project is
between $25,000 and $100,000. SIC code is 1542. Solicitation packages
