is soliciting proposals to repave the truck entrance at the Hartford,
CT Processing & Distribution Center at 141 Weston St. Work includes,
but is not limited to, excavation of pavement and subbase and
installation of soil stabilization fabric, new subbase and pavement for
the entrance road and a portion of the dock parking lot, and all
associated work. The estimated cost of the work is between $150,000.00
and $350,000.00, with completion within ninety (90) calendar days
after receipt of notice to proceed. Sealed offers will be received in
this office prior to, but no later than, 4:00 p.m. on May 12, 2000.
Offers will not be publicly opened. The number of offers received, the
identity of the offerors, the amount of any offer, or relative
standing of the offerors WILL NOT BE DISCLOSED TO ANYONE until award of
contract is made. Proposal documents, plans and specifications will be
available o/a December 29, 1999 at a cost of $35.00 per set
(non-refundable) from the Facilities Service Office, U. S. Postal
Service, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT 06006-0300. Only certified
checks or money orders will be accepted, made payable to the Disbursing
Officer, U. S. Postal Service (Reference Solicitation No.
082530-00-A-0097). Plans may be inspected at the issuing office and
information regarding their availability may be obtained by contacting
Catherine Delasco at (860) 285-7191. Questions concerning the
technical aspects of the proposal should be directed to Michael
Archacki, USPS Project Manager, at (860) 285-7345 or Jim Edwards of CT
Male Assoc. at (518) 786-7400. There will be a preproposal conference
for this project on Thursday, May 25th at 10:00 a.m. at the site.
Prospective offerors are encouraged to attend. Offerors wishing to
visit the site at a time other than the walk-through may contact
William Imbier, Maintenance Manager, at (860) 524-6248. Proposals will
be evaluated on 1) price; and 2) company environmental health and
safety plan, which must be submitted with the proposal.A
project-specific safety plan must be submitted by the successful
offeror before award. Guidelines for other project requirements are
outlined in the specifications. The successful offeror will be required
to submit a 100% performance bond and 50% payment bond before award of
contract is made. This is not a formal invitation for bid; therefore,
no bid bond or proposal guarantee is required, and bid results will
not be available until after the project has been awarded. Posted
